featuring Basic Invite
Many of you may not know this, but I’m actually a former wedding planner! Although my degree and background are in fashion and design, I’ve always been in love with the wedding business – there’s something about helping plan the biggest party of someone’s life all in the name of love! While I do miss the job, I don’t miss the long weekend (and weeknight) hours that were involved. But the party planner in me surely lives on! I like to think of myself as my family’s resident party planner – I ALWAYS have a party in the works!
This post is sponsored from Basic Invite. All opinions and ideas are 100% my own.
And yes, I’ll admit, I’m totally a Pinterest addict. I love throwing theme parties and coordinating every single detail from the decor to the food to the invitations. Some things I like to make (mostly decor), but some things are just so time-consuming, and to be honest, I don’t have that kind of time anymore!
I just co-hosted a baby shower for my bestie a couple weekends ago. It was a great day! We went with a theme in the colors of her baby girl’s nursery, which is coral pink, mint green and navy accents. It turned out great, but it was surprisingly hard to find mint green and coral items – and navy for a girl! Here are some of the fun details!
Call me crazy. Maybe I’m just a little too into it. But when I set a theme, I like to go all out. I want all the things to match, right down to the invitations and the thank you cards. I figured I could find some cute invites at a department store, and I was right – there were some cute ones. But none of them even came close to the main color that I was looking for (soft coral pink) and I just didn’t like them for this party. I ended up making some myself, but I really don’t have time for that anymore. Of course, after the fact, I happened upon a fabulous online company that specializes in customizing every little detail imaginable – perfect for my control freak personality- ha! Just look at all the baby shower invitations for girls!
The company is called Basic Invite. They are different from other companies of their kind in several ways. For one, their color options are incredible! Some sites will let you customize your color options, yes. But I have never seen the level of detail that you can change on an item like I have with this company. Not only can you change the colors, but you can actually change the color of the tiniest elements within a design with up to 180 different color options and get as detailed as you want! Where else would you be able to do this?
Although it was too late to get printed baby shower invitations for the shower, I still wanted the guest of honor to have some beautiful thank you cards to send to her guests after the party. So I scored some gorgeous ones from Basic Invite that I designed myself – look how pretty! You can find thank you cards for baby showers right here.
And best of all, they are one of a kind because they are personalized with baby’s last name and with each element tweaked in her soft coral, mint green and navy color scheme.
I love the way these turned out! And just so you know, Basic Invite is offering 40% off baby shower invitations for a limited time only and 15% off everything!
Not only can you customize the colors of your design, but you can also choose from a plethora of different colors and finishes on your envelope as well! I absolutely love this option – especially if I’m helping plan a wedding – because who wants a gorgeous custom invitation with a standard envelope? If you’re going to create a custom design, then you might as well go all out! Basic Invite actually has over 40 different colors of envelopes to choose from. I chose some pretty grey cotton envelopes for this design with a beautiful texture.
And if you want to see what your official invitation will look like before you order hundreds of them, you’re in luck. You’re actually able to order a printed sample of your design so that you can see in person what the printed colors, quality papers and wording looks like before you place your final order. Let’s do a demonstration, shall we? I’ll use the default names on the website.
Okay, so I picked out this gorgeous wedding invite, which is already stunning on it’s own! To the right, you will see the colors that are already filled in for this design – this is pre-set. But you can make changes to EACH one of those dots of colors with any of their colors that you want.
And your changes show up immediately. So just for fun, I’ve played around with changing the colors and the font. Here’s what I did:
Isn’t that cool? And any changes that you make show up immediately for preview. You don’t have to wait until you’re all done to see the results. The detail-crazy theme planner in me is going bonkers with excitement…ha!
And here’s the kicker – you ready for this? Hold on to your hats. Basic Invite offers a FREE address collection service. In three steps, you simply share a link, collect addresses from friends and family, and you can have them printed directly on your envelopes. What does this mean? It means you might gain back several hours of your life to go shopping or watch Netflix. Because you won’t have to hand write every single one of those addresses out. Game changer!
I have a few parties coming up soon-ish. And I’m already thinking about my daughter’s 6th birthday party even though it’s a couple months away because that’s how I roll. How cute are these unicorn invites that would totally suit the occasion! I’m sure my daughter would prefer rainbow hair on her unicorn, but luckily I can change that – ha!
I’m also excited because Basic Invite also creates other custom stationery, like business cards. If there is ever a paper good that needs the perfect customization, then a business card is the thing! It leaves a lasting impression, so I feel custom details are important. I absolutely love these that have gold foil marble within the design! SO pretty!
Are you a total planner like me that has to have a hand in every last detail? Please tell me I’m not alone! Do you plan everything out right down to the matching invitations?
