Learn about the Soapbox motto: Soap=Hope
So it’s no surprise that I’m a product junkie. And when I find some that I get extremely excited about – well, they end up here on the blog because I have to share my excitement! I had recently heard about a brand called Soapbox when I happened upon them on Instagram. And then – lucky me! They happened to find me too and ask if I wanted to try out some of their products for a review. Of course I agreed since I was already interested, but after trying the products I found out that I LOVE this company for way more than just the goods!
First off, I just want to say that I was not paid to write this. All opinions for this post are 100% my own. I was given the products pictured for free in return for an honest product review. But I gotta tell you, now that I’ve tried them all and have learned what this company stands for, I’m totally a customer for life now. Also, all the products are naturally-derived, not from a lab. We all know I love my natural products!
The Soapbox Soaps company was started when their founder, David Simnick, started making his first batch of soaps in his apartment while in college seven years ago! Their mission is “to empower people to change the world through everyday, quality purchases”. I love this. They wanted to develop a way to give back, and now you and I can do the same simply by making a purchase.
For every one product purchased with Soapbox, they donate a bar of soap to a person in need, whether it be in the U.S. or abroad. A single bar of soap may not sound like much to a person who has these things on the daily. But for someone who has nothing and no access to such things, it means a lot. How grateful would you be for a gift to help with personal hygiene if you had nothing? I know that I’d be ecstatic.
Soapbox sent me 5 products to try and review for myself. Here are my thoughts on each:
Citrus & Peach Rose Reviving Moisture Bar Soap
Okay, so anyone who knows me knows that I hate peaches. I hate everything about them; touch, taste, smell, etc. (I know I’m in the minority here, haha). So I hesitated when I opened up this bar soap with peach in it. BUT man, oh man, I’m glad I did. This thing smells D-I-V-I-N-E. Maybe it’s because it’s mixed with citrus and rose which I really like, so the peach isn’t as strong to me. Regardless, the mix is amazing. I’ll be honest, I don’t usually use bar soap, but this stuff has changed my mind. My skin is dry and this bar feels very hydrating and is so refreshing! Cost: $4.49/bar.
Vanilla & Lily Blossom Nourishing Moisture Liquid Hand Soap
I have a confession to make. I have a liquid hand soap obsession. Ha! I really do though. I just wash my hands a LOT (I have kids. Enough said.) Therefore, I always keep stock of liquid hand soap so we never run out. Since I use it so much, I want something without a lot of chemicals, but I want it to smell good, too. That’s where this stuff steps in. The light lily scent is the perfect vanilla compliment. And again, not overpowering at all. Online cost: $4.49/12 oz. bottle.
Sea Minerals & Blue Iris Gentle Moisture Body Wash
I love the scent of this stuff. It’s light and floral-y, but not overpowering at all. The shea butter in it also moisturizes my dry skin very well and leaves it feeling soft. It’s super refreshing and a little goes a long way! Online cost: $6.99/16. oz bottle.
Bamboo Strength & Body Shampoo
I’ve always been one to lean toward more affordable haircare. I love the salon stuff, but not the prices. And I have long, color-treated hair, so costs add up really fast. I also like to lean toward natural products where I can. Needless to say, I was excited to give this stuff a try. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The shampoo is very hydrating to my strands. I was concerned it would leave my scalp oily.
I’m actually having some thyroid issues and my hormones are whacky, so I have more oil than normal on one side of my head right now, it’s terrible. I thought this would worsen it since my other hair care products don’t seem to help right now. However, I was pleasantly surprised. My hair seemed more vibrant even after the first use and my scalp was not as oily on that bad side as it had been. Maybe because I’m using less chemicals since this product is natural? They also have some purifying and moisturizing formulas that I’m excited to try next! Online cost: $6.99/16. oz. bottle.
Bamboo Strength & Body Conditioner
This stuff is right on par with the shampoo. The scent is also very light and “clean”. It really made my ends feel more moisturized when normally they are SO dry. I love the consistency of this conditioner as it’s thicker than what I’m used to. It really “gets in there”! I don’t blowdry my hair much either and it just air dryed so much better after even the first use with this stuff! Online cost: $6.99/16. oz. bottle.
Alright, now that I’ve told you about each product that I’ve tried, here’s a recap of why this company and it’s products are so awesome!
- They are affordable! Finally! Natural products that don’t cost a fortune! Especially ones that are as fab and deliciously scented as these.
- They give back! How can I not want to be a part of a place that wants to make a difference? I want to give back too, and this makes me feel like I’m doing something for the greater good!
- Vegan and cruelty-free products – this means you can gift them to any friends and family, too – the products are for everyone!
- Soap=Hope: Every time you purchase a Soapbox product, the back of the product has a “Hope Code” on it. You can go directly to their website below and enter in that code. It tells you EXACTLY where/how your purchase is going to help make a difference!
This is an example of what popped up when I entered one of my hope codes:
Isn’t that cool? It even pops up with a map to show me where my purchase’s donation is helping, which program it benefits, and it provides the backstory. I LOVE this feature and how specific it is!
Just so you know, Soapbox is more conveniently available to you than you may realize. You can purchase it at Target, Kroger, Walgreens, Walmart and many other retail stores. However, if you’re a busy mom like me and prefer to order online, then you’re in luck. I have a discount code for you!
