Best Product to Conceal Dark UnderEye Circles

Hey guys! It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’m scheming up some good things to write about! I just had to get a quick post in about a new product that I’m in LOVE with for the undereye area.

Y’all know that I love my drugstore products. But, I also love lots of other higher end brands, so sometimes a momma’s gotta splurge. Typically, I like to find makeup dupes of the high end products at the drug store, but sometimes, you just have to whip out the big guns. When it comes to my undereye area, well, let’s just say we needed an army to get this job done.

I’ve recently tried several products to cover up these purplish/black bags under my eyes. I’ve always had dark circles, but my little man is  seven and half months old and still not sleeping through the night. And I get up super early for work M-F, so I’m tired, and these bags aren’t going anywhere. I’ve blogged before about how much I LOVE the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. This is still true. But I have found a higher end product that has really impressed me.

It Cosmetics By Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer is AMAZING. Truly. I snagged it in the Light shade. It’s super creamy and thick but not cakey (unless you cake it on!) and it last ALL. DAY. LONG. Yes, even through my long working days and into the evening. You can find it on Amazon here (this is the lightest shade, FYI): It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Waterproof Concealer, Light (Ultra Fair) 1 ea

I will say, I think a trick to this is setting it with a great setting powder because the combo of the two makes sure it stays put. I actually sweated in the stuff the other day and I felt like my face was drippy and gross. Checked out ye old under eyes in the mirror and – what!? – to my surprise, nothing smeared! I also love this stuff because it’s anti-aging, it doesn’t settle into my lines and creases (and unfortunately I have plenty now, ugh) and it’s waterproof! It seems like everything I’ve used lately has actually ENHANCED my fine lines, but this does not. And it leaves it nice and bright looking underneath, which is exactly what I want. I’m going to share with you some photos below, beware, the lighting isn’t the best as I just shot them with my iphone in less than ideal lighting circumstances.

I started with a blank slate. The right side (my left eye) has nothing on it except eye cream and moisturizer. The left side (my right eye)has the Bye Bye Undereye on it. Um, hello! This is like night and day, folks! Best product to conceal dark undereye circles

Usually I feel like I need to layer product or use color corrector underneath to achieve this level of coverage in an undereye product. However, it’s not necessary with this product. This is another big reason why I like it. It saves me time. Why go through all those steps and layer it on when you don’t have to? Also, I feel like this tube is going to last me FOREVER. Seriously. It did cost me $24 at Ulta, and it’s not giant, but you need the TINIEST bit of product ever for full coverage for one eye. We’re talking minuscule. In fact, the first time I used it, I totally took wayyy too much because I assumed I would need to. Wrong. Squirt the tiniest dot on your fingertip, then even that will be enough for both eyes. SO worth the money.

In the next shot, I got closer to a window so the lighting is a little better. I set the left side (my right eye) with a setting powder so the concealer will stay put and not settle into any creases. (FYI I used Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. It is also well worth its high-end value!)

Now, remember, this is just concealing and setting. The product is NOT going to make your fine lines and wrinkles go away. They are still there. You can see mine. BUT it does a much better job of covering the area without drawing extra attention to them. And of course, your makeup won’t cake up inside all of the little lines like many other products do. Here, I’ve concealed both sides. (Sorry again for the change in lighting, I was sitting in the window and tried to keep as consistent as possible!)

This is after I applied the rest of my makeup (including highlighter), and I was no longer in natural light, this is in my bathroom lighting:

Best product to conceal dark undereye circlesI made sure not to touch my face for the whole day to see how this stuff held up. So I took a picture in the office at the end of the day, as close up of an eye shot as I could get with my iphone. If I look a little cray cray, it’s because my sinuses were acting up so my eyes are a bit red. But here’s a shot of my undereye after 10 hours of application:

Look, ma! No creasing! YAHOO! I should have taken another one before I showered that night because it still looked good before I washed it off. Very impressed. I took another before and after with my iphone on a different day because I was having a particularly bad dark circle day here, too(…and a bit of a breakout, but we’ll cover that another time , haha):

Much better, eh? So what to you think? Have you tried this product? If not, what’s your favorite product(s) for covering dark circles?

Krista! It’s great! However, if you love the UD Naked Weightless, you might not like this as much! The reason why I say that – I tried that one and it is nice and, well, weightless! Very light! I love that I didn’t feel like I had anything on. BUT I also feel it didn’t cover my bad circles as well as I had hoped. I was bummed. It did NOT crease on me though! Loved that. The Bye Bye Undereye is much thicker so just beware. It’s very full coverage if you like that. For me, it’s a must!

Kim, I don’t remember you ever having bad circle issues! But if you want maximum coverage, this is your product! If, however, you want something with a little less coverage (don’t need an army like I do haha) then go with Urban Decay Naked Weightless concealer – it did NOT crease on me either when I set it with my powder but it wasn’t quite enough coverage for me. Let me know if you try one!

Thanks for sharing! I will need to look into that. I’ve noticed that the more I sit in front of my computer, the darker my circles get.. Boo! And I do sleep enough (however.. is it ever enough?) :/
Also I LOVE your eyelashes!! Are they all natural? Maybe you use some sort of magical serum to grow them?.. x

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂 OY…as a mom who NEVER sleeps, I will say – kids or not – no one can get enough. LOL. It’s very funny that you mentioned my lashes because they are just okay to me, nothing special, haha. They are very light colored and not super long. These are my real lashes – no falsies. But I SWEAR by this mascara. It’s AMAZEBALLS. It’s called Benefit Roller Lash. It’s around $24 I think at Ulta and Sephora, but worth every little penny, I promise. I’ve never had so many compliments on my lashes than when I started wearing it! It goes on great and avoids that sort of spidery look that some mascaras give. And I don’t use any serum! But sometimes I use a lash primer. Lately I use NYX Big and Loud Lash Primer (under $10) and that helps too! But I will say the mascara on its own is pretty great! LOVE the stuff! Let me know if you check it out!
