I’ve always coveted that dewy makeup look. But somehow, it’s always seemed hard to get the look right. For me, I always wanted a subtle natural glow, but I just couldn’t seem to achieve it with makeup the way I wanted without caking on the highlighter.
Now, I love my cream and powder highlighters, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like it’s a pretty noticeable difference to have shimmer on one part of your face vs. all of your face having a subtle sheen. I’m a busy gal, so I wanted to find a product that I could throw on that would do it for me. Something that I wouldn’t need mad skills for. I mean, I have skills with makeup, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – sometimes a momma just ain’t got that kind of time.
Dewy Makeup Drugstore find
I must say, I’ve finally found what I’ve been looking for from the drug store. Thank you, Maybelline! (And no, they have not paid me to say this!) I have normal to dry skin, and I discovered their new Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation.
I’ll admit, I’ve never been a huge fan of liquid foundation. I have always preferred a cream to powder for the full coverage finish. However, with it being summer, I want the feel of something lighter. Plus, I’m not going to get a dewy finish with a matte cream to powder formula. So, I gave it a try, and I must say, after using it for a few weeks now, I’m in love! So much, in fact, that I bought the Fit Me concealer and powder, and I loved it all so much that I had to share the info with you! I’ll share the links for them below.
To get that dewy makeup look, start with your clean, moisturized face. Then dot the foundation all over your face with your finger. Grab your damp beauty blender and stipple it all over your face. (Definitely use a beauty blender if you can because the look is more flawless, whereas if you are using your fingers or a regular sponge, you could leave line marks).
The result is already a great one, with subtle sheen all over the face. But I’ve got some BAD undereye circles, so I can’t be finished yet. Even if you’re lucky enough to not have any, I’d totally still recommend the Fit Me concealer. I’ve never met a drugstore concealer that I actually liked very much until I snagged this one. It’s amazing! Sometimes I feel the need to add a few layers, but with this one, one layer is all you need. It has a doe foot applicator, so just draw it in a triangle under your eye. Then stipple it in with your beauty blender.
Even if you don’t usually wear undereye concealer, this will lighten up the whole area for a bright and youthful look. I recommend getting the concealer at least 1 if not 2 shades lighter than your foundation. It really makes it pop. In this picture, you can see on the left side that I’ve used the concealer, and no concealer on the right side:
Big difference, huh? Sorry, I hope I didn’t scare you off! haha. Then, because I just feel unfinished without a powder, I use the Fit Me Set+Smooth powder. Just take a large, full powder brush and sweep a light dusting all over your face to set it. The dewy sheen that you want still shows through without looking overly shiny:
I did end up putting more of the powder on my nose however, because I don’t need my nose looking any larger. Ha! AND after all the rest of the makeup is on the ol’ face, you can see the before and after with some blush, lighter eyeshadow, eyebrows and mascara:

I’ve been wanting to try that kind! We were wandering through the makeup aisles looking for nail polish for a gift, and Adam grabbed the plastic color match swatch from that brand and matched me up. haha! He used to mix paint back on the day, so he’s good with color. He swore one of them matched me perfectly, but I’ve never had luck with liquid foundation. It always just sinks into my pores and creases and accentuates my flaws. But, I’ve been curious ever since he matched me up. Might have to give it a try!
Krista, you should definitely try it! I was never big into liquid foundation either, I love it! I will say, it’s all about technique though and how you apply it. I’m working on another post that talks about exactly this – how to get a more flawless finish WITHOUT everything looking cakey and settled into facial lines with lots of great tips! Look for it soon!
I tried the Fit Me + Matte & Poreless version due to my oily skin and giant pores, and I like it a lot! While it provides less coverage than my usual go-to foundation (Estee Lauder Double Wear), it’s a more breathable option for my skin in the summer heat and humidity. I need to try the damp beauty blender trick, though! 🙂
Awesome! I’m glad you liked it! I’m SO impressed with Maybelline…it’s hard to find a drugstore formula to be in LOVE with sometimes! They’ve made it easy! The beauty blender makes all the difference for application. Love it.
Love the maybelline fit me line! It’s the best from the drugstore!

Isn’t it perfect? I keep trying high end concealers, but this is the one I keep coming back to! Glad you love it, too! 😉
